The GoS Nordic Seasons Summer watch by Gustafsson and Sjögren is characterised by its meticulous hand-crafted elements. Brimming with originality, the piece has an artisan dial which is enhanced with solid gold detailing and is housed within a rounded case which features stunning contrasting finishes. Commanding an elegant wrist presence, the model boasts unparalleled exclusivity.
Each GoS watch is deeply inspired by the wild beauty of the company’s Swedish homeland. The creative stimulus behind the brand is the talented duo, Master Bladesmith, Johan Gustafsson and Master Watchmaker, Patrik Sjögren. By combining their diverse skills, the pair has brought the essentia of Scandinavia to the watchmaking landscape in a wholly authentic manner. In each of their timepieces, one can discern the untamed nature of Sweden’s environment and the ancestral styling codes which have been passed down through generations of craftsmen.
Forming part of the Nordic Seasons Collection which traces the natural drama of the passing year, the GoS Nordic Seasons Summer model carries a magnificent hand-forged dial which displays the Wildflower pattern. Abound with nuances of red tones, in its undulating lines and swirls one can immediately sense the uplifting ambience and welcome warmth as the days grow ever-longer in a Scandinavian Summer.
Each dial is painstakingly crafted in a process during which multiple layers of hard metal is repeatedly fired and folded. The resulting exquisite slivers of metal are so delicately artistic that one can almost imagine that they are the result of the artist’s palette. That such beauty can be engendered in the fierce heat of the forge is simply astounding. With every subtle wrist movement, the Wildflower patterned dial displays immeasurable tones as the subtle colour shades catch and play with the light, offering its wearer an ever-changing façade. With such a detailed and arduous hand-crafted technique, exclusivity is ensured and no two dials will ever be alike.
Providing a perfect frame for this intense panorama, a handcrafted solid gold index ring is placed at the perimeter. From the centre, the solid gold hands have been shaped and polished by hand. In deference to Scandinavia’s cultural styling codes they each take the form of miniature spears, while the Viking-inspired Triskele-shaped small seconds is a diminutive yet compelling addition. The contrast of the resplendent gold elements against the Wildflower pattern brings a sense of drama to this highly original model and the overall effect is outstanding.
The piece carries a 45mm case featuring contrasting stainless steel and Damascus steel elements. Flawless high-gloss polishing achieved by hand enhances its profile. Paying attention to the minutiae, the GoS name is engraved on the case side while the generous crown has been enhanced with an extra fine-grained Damascus steel pattern.
On the rear side, and visible through sapphire, one can admire the purity of design of the Swiss manual ETA 6498 calibre. Refined by hand, the movement has also been improved to Chronometre Grade by Swiss company, Soprod and will reach a power reserve of 46 hours when fully wound.
The GoS Nordic Seasons Summer watch comes presented on a hand-crafted soft nubuck leather strap fitted with a stainless steel GoS buckle.
