An abundance of exquisite subtleties define the GoS Nordic Seasons Autumn watch by Gustafsson and Sjögren. Demonstrating the company’s mastery of Damascus steel craftsmanship, the model carries a dial of unparalleled beauty housed within a flawlessly finished watchcase. The artisan characteristics of the piece ensure that its wearer is offered a unique wristwatch experience and the assurance of exclusivity.
Master Bladesmith, Johan Gustafsson and Master Watchmaker, Patrik Sjögren are the creative energy behind GoS watches. Together they produce outstanding timepieces inspired by the wildness of the Swedish landscape. Recalling their country’s ancient styling codes and the skills passed down through generations of craftsmen, each GoS piece features hand-forged dials which capture the very essence of their homeland’s impressive environment.
Forming part of the extraordinary Nordic Seasons portfolio, the dial of the GoS Nordic Seasons Autumn model evokes the sublime tones of the Autumnal skies which appear over Scandinavia as the year gently closes in. Following the distinctive Woodgrain pattern, emotive shades of blues and purples sweep across this impressive façade giving the piece an earthy, organic feel.
Each dial is individually crafted in the violent heat of the forge in a painstaking process during which multiple layers of hard metal are repeatedly fired and tempered by hand. More akin to a miniature work of art, the immeasurable nuances and shades appear as if they are the result of the artists brush and palette. With every wrist movement, the wearer is treated to an eye-pleasing panorama, as each vibrant swirl of the pattern catches and plays with the light. Originality is guaranteed - under such a process, no two dials can ever be the same.
Providing a pristine frame for this extraordinary dial, a handcrafted white gold index ring is an understated yet dramatic feature. From the centre, the white gold hands have been shaped and polished by hand. In deference to Scandinavia’s cultural styling codes they each take the form of miniature spears, while the Viking-inspired Triskele-shaped small seconds is a diminutive yet compelling addition.
The piece carries a 45mm case featuring contrasting stainless steel and Damascus steel elements. Flawless high-gloss polishing achieved by hand enhances its profile. Paying attention to the minutiae, the GoS name is engraved on the case side while the generous crown has been enhanced with an extra fine-grained Damascus steel pattern.
On the rear side, and visible through sapphire, one can admire the purity of design of the Swiss manual ETA 6498 calibre. Refined and refinished by Swiss company, Soprod, the movement has been improved to Chronometre Grade and will reach a power reserve of 46 hours when fully wound.
The GoS Nordic Seasons Autumn watch comes presented on a hand-crafted soft nubuck leather strap fitted with a stainless steel GoS buckle.
