Characterised by contemporary elegance, the Fears Redcliff 39.5 Cherry Red watch is brimming with quintessentially British style references that are unique to this company. Presented in a 39.5mm rounded stainless steel casing, and wearing on a superb 3-link stainless steel bracelet, the watch features a vibrant red dial, beautifully executed on two levels, with a date indication, and is powered by a customised precision automatic calibre by the prestigious movement Manufacture La Joux-Perret.
One of Britain’s oldest watch companies, Fears has a significant provenance which dates back to 1846, when the founder Edwin Fears first established the business in Bristol, England. The new Redcliff collection reintroduces a rounded casing to their portfolio, and the models pay tribute to the company’s historical home by referencing the city’s famous Clifton Suspension Bridge in the profile of its 12 o’clock appliqué.
The Redcliff 39.5 Cherry Red watch resides in a stainless steel case sized at 39.5mm diameter with a height of 9.95mm. The slender profile gives the model a refined presence on the wrist and its proportions ensure the watch is perfect for daily wear. Sealed to a water resistance of 150m, and featuring both brushed and polished finishes, the integrated lugs of the case seamlessly embrace a three link stainless steel bracelet with brushed and polished elements that complement the case.
Rendered in a bespoke varnish in a particularly vibrant tone of red, the dial of the watch adds further to the contemporary feel of the piece, being bereft of hour numerals, and featuring clean, crisp styling throughout. Crafted on two levels, the dial has a subtle recess on its outer and here the chapter ring is finished with a grooved texturing. Raised slightly, the middle section is finished with sunburst detailing. Of particular note, the indices are hand-applied and diamond-cut so that they catch and reflect the light, and with hand-applied Super-LumiNova on the time indications emitting a brilliant blue glow after dark, readability is enabled in poor light conditions. At the three o’clock the date window has a bevelled edge and its date numeral is of an in-house design which is colour matched for each edition in the series.
The watch is powered by a top-grade customised La Joux-Perret G100 mechanical automatic calibre. Beating at 28,000 vib/h, the movement has a power reserve of 68 hours. For this model, the calibre has also been fitted with a custom rotor decorated with the ‘Bristol Flower’
The Fears Redcliff 39.5 Cherry Red watch comes presented on a stainless steel link bracelet, secured with a foldover clasp, with an additional textile strap also supplied.
