With an in-house dial, enriched with gold elements, contrasting finishes and colour tones, the DeWitt Academia Chronostream II is ultimately a legible and functional wristwatch. However, this handsome sports timekeeper also retains a resolutely elegant presence.
The dial design is that of a two-register chronograph, with continuous seconds at 9 o’clock and chronograph 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, each framed with rose gold. At its centre, a Clous de Paris motif adds texture, rimmed by a blue tachymeter scale. The rose-gold open-worked hour and minutes hands add refinement, while the blued subdial hands and central chronograph hand offer distinction.
The 42.5mm case comprises of luxurious 18-carat rose gold interplayed with contemporary black rubber “Imperial Column” inserts within its case middle. The case-side pushers for the chronograph functions have a textured finish, while the crown carries a black insert and the DeWitt “W” motif.
Inside, the DeWitt self-winding Calibre DW6005 beats at 28,800vph and is capable of delivering 48 hours of power reserve. The watch is finished with a solid caseback, inscribed with the “W” motif and comes presented on a black alligator leather strap with 18-carat rose gold folding clasp with the brand’s “W” motif.
