The dial surface of the Czapek Promenade Plissé Rose watch offers a wonderful interplay of texture light and illusion. Focussed on the small seconds at 4.30, the undulations of its pattern recall the motion of silken pleats of fabric which are disrupted when they reach the subdial, before reforming to surround it once again. Incredibly detailed and sumptuous, the pattern of the dial is allowed to dominate, with the applied indices becoming integrated within the pleats, and with slender openworked hour and minutes hands which complement the refinement of the arrangement.
Manufactured from stainless steel, the proportions of the watch adhere to the elegant styling codes that are at the heart of the Promenade collection. Measuring 38mm in diameter and with a height of only 10.8mm, the case displays recessed and sand-blasted sides, and has a gently curved guard around its crown. Ensuring a full view of the dial, the case is fitted with a box-sapphire crystal, and a trim, rounded bezel.
Beating within, and viewable through the sapphire crystal caseback, the superb SXH5 in-house automatic calibre is designed and developed in-house by Czapek. Finished to the exacting standards of Haute Horlogerie, it features a sandblasted and darkened mainplate, with mirror polishing, anglage and bevelling applied by hand to its components. Fully visible through the sapphire caseback, its series of cascading skeletonised and sandblasted black bridges, and the inner workings and detailing of the free sprung balance and going train of interconnecting wheels and gears are revealed. Offset and fitted flush onto the main plate, the 100% recycled solid platinum micro rotor provides the chronometer-rated 28’800vib/h mechanism with a minimum of 60 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
A charming proposition, the Czapek Promenade Plissé Rose watch is limited to only 18 pieces, and wears on a grey leather strap, with an alternative stainless steel Milanese mesh bracelet also available as an option.
