CVSTOS CHALLENGE CHRONO II BLACK STEEL WITH FULL BLACK DIAMOND

An outstanding Haute Horlogerie sports timekeeper which exhibits striking aesthetics, the Cvstos Challenge Chrono II Black Steel Full Black Diamond Setting edition commands a powerful presence on the wrist.  While ultimately functional, the stealthy characteristics of this exciting model and the uncommon addition of a full black diamond setting ensure that the piece has a formidable personality.

The watch carries the unmistakeable Cvstos Challenge II tonneau-shaped watch case which, although generously proportioned, curves to enable an ergonomic experience for the wearer.  Accentuating its black steel profile, an impressive black diamond setting adds drama. Far from aggressive, the effect of the black precious stones against the darkened metal is one of supreme, contemporary elegance.

Representing the passion for avant-garde styling which CEO Sassoun Sirmakes and chief designer Antonio Terranova have demonstrated since Cvstos launched in 2005, the Challenge Chrono II Black Steel Black Diamonds model features a paired-back dial made from sapphire, which offers a visually stunning exposé of the mechanical mechanisms.

The dial arrangement enables optimal readability and equipoise.  Aligned vertically, the 30-minute and 12-hour counters take up position at the 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock locations. A smaller counter for the seconds is located at the 9 o’clock, while a Tachymeter scale frames the flange.

An intimate glimpse of the mechanisms at work is enhanced by meticulous openworked detailing.  The hour and minutes hands are skeletonised and each counter has been reduced so that only their outer rims remain.  In order to enhance legibility in poor light conditions, the hands and indices are chromed and Super-Luminova treated.

Conforming to this minimalism, the power reserve indicator, on the right hand side of the dial, has also been reduced to a mere arc, while at the 3 o’clock location, the date numeral is displayed in a darkened aperture.  Adding a superb technical aspect, beneath and between each of the counters, the shadowy outline of the date disc is revealed.

The piece is equipped with the CVSTOS 577 automatic chronograph calibre.  Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it retains a power reserve of 42 hours.  Visible through the caseback sapphire, the wearer can appreciate the plain beauty of its industrial architecture and the Cvstos bimetallic Tungsten 88 and Titanium Grade 5 rotor.

The Cvstos Challenge Chrono II Black Steel with Full Black Diamond Setting model comes presented on a Black Nitril rubber strap with a steel folding clasp set with black diamonds.
