Characterised by a superb juxtaposition of cutting-edge materials and traditional craftsmanship, the CVSTOS Chrono II collection boasts all the requisite features demanded of contemporary Haute Horlogerie sports timekeepers. Exhibiting a strong wrist presence, these ultimately useable and legible high-performance chronograph timepieces demonstrate the flair for sharp styling and innovation which are synonymous with youthful watchmaking company, CVSTOS.
Since their launch in 2005, CVSTOS have taken a confident and unrestrained approach to the design of their collections. Bridging the gap between traditional Swiss watchmaking and fearless avant-garde-ism, CVSTOS watches are characterised by meticulous craftsmanship and technical supremacy. Defined by their clean, modern styling and supreme performance, the CVSTOS Chrono II models also offer a superb showcase of their mechanical minutiae, viewable through sapphire dials and case backs.
Technically advanced, and boldly styled, the CVSTOS Challenge Chrono II Black and Red Forged Carbon watch carries a tonneau-shaped watchcase, sized at 53.7mm x 41mm and made from high-tech forged carbon. While the material is favoured for its ultra-light strength, it also has an unmistakeable random marble-like appearance, gleaned from the infusion of individual carbon fibre strands. For this model, CVSTOS incorporate red accents into the material giving it a unique, highly modernist feel.
Complementing the vibrant veins of forged carbon, a rubber insert on the crown, and the script on the sculpted case side pushers are enhanced with vivid red.
The dial has been crafted from anti-glare sapphire in order to showcase the micro-mechanical components at work. Here, further red accents on the indications and on the Tachymeter scale add contrast.
Arranged vertically, the 30-minute and 12-hour counters take up position at the 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock locations. A smaller counter for the seconds is located at the 9 o’clock. Chunky lume-coated indices are set deep within the flange.
Adhering to the paired-back dial aesthetic synonymous with CVSTOS timepieces, each indication is reduced to its essentials so that nothing obscures the intimate glimpse of the technical components. The counters and power reserve have been skeletonised so that only their rims remain, and the hour and minutes hands have been meticulously open-worked. Beneath them, one can discern the shadow of the date ring as each numeral waits in turn to appear in the aperture at the 3 o’clock location.
The piece is equipped with the CVSTOS 577 automatic chronograph calibre. Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it retains a power reserve of 42 hours. Visible through the case back sapphire, the wearer can appreciate the plain beauty of its industrial architecture and the bimetallic Tungsten 88 and Titanium Grade 5 rotor.
Defined by its black and red forged carbon case and three-dimensional dial aspect with visible components, the CVSTOS Challenge Chrono II Black and Red Forged Carbon watch represents the pinnacle of modern-day Independent Watchmaking. A piece for the discerning collector who has a panache for futuristic materials and pristine finishing, the model comes presented on a red Nitril rubber strap with a black steel folding clasp.
