CORUM GOLDEN BRIDGE ROUND 39

Completely in line with the brand’s non-conformist approach to watch design, when it was first launched in 1980 the Golden Bridge by Corum was well ahead of its time. Boasting as its centerpiece a stunning mechanical movement, created by Master Watchmaker Vincent Calabrese, its looks, and technical execution was like nothing that had been seen before.

Previously available only in a limited collection of rectangular tonneau style watches, the introduction of the round 39mm case in 2016 took this fabulous horologic creation into a new dimension, introducing colour, precious stones and exotic materials to accentuate the brand’s joie de vivre approach to design, which has been intrinsic since day one.

Delicate and sophisticated with its unique mechanicals laid out in a linear arrangement, amid pink folds of precious resin and bedecked with more than 180 full cut diamonds, the Corum Golden Bridge Round 39 is an exquisite piece for the discerning woman with a taste for individuality and an uncompromising demand for complex Swiss watchmaking.

Encased in gleaming polished 5N 18Kt rose gold with its bezel and lugs adorned with diamonds, the Golden Bridge Round 39 is the essence of femininity, with pure and flowing contours complemented by the drama of the sparkling diamond-lined pink resin dial sections, which constantly play with the light at every twitch of the wrist. Beneath, a sapphire caseback emphasises the three dimensional view.

Of course the piéce de resistance is the mechanical assembly which sits horizontally in the centre. Constructed using rose gold plates, with hand engraved decoration, the Calibre CO 113  is a triumph of miniaturisation, condensing all of the essential components of a fine hand winding movement in a linear baguette arrangement of considerable complexity. Between the resin curtains, everything is exposed, from the winding mechanism next to the crown, across through the gear train and barrel, on to the never ceasing animation of the balance and escapement at the nine o’clock position. Even with its reduced confines, and beating at a spritely 28,800vph, it still delivers forty hours of energy when fully wound by hand.

The Corum Golden Bridge Round 39 is presented on a glossy pink alligator leather strap and secured with an 18Kt rose gold folding clasp.
