Chronofighter Vintage UK Edition

Graham Chronofighter Vintage UK Edition

Few watches are as immediately identifiable and aesthetically arresting as the Graham Chronofighter series. These are bold, uncompromising wristwatches with unique personalities and massive presence, and to celebrate fifteen years of this conversation-stopping timepiece, Graham have created a collection of super cool chronographs as an anniversary edition, the most exclusive of these being the Chronofighter Vintage UK, of which only 15 pieces have ben made.

Standing out from the anniversary collection thanks in particular to its red, white and blue RAF roundel, the brand new Graham Chronofighter Vintage UK is a magnificent and respectful hat-tip to the spirit of the WWII combat aviators who were the inspiration for the Chronofighter collection in the first place.

Of course, one of the Chronofighter’s most obvious features is its large and unusual left-hand chronograph ‘trigger’ start/stop assembly, which on consideration is actually a very clever solution as it means that the chronograph may be deployed or stopped using the right thumb in a more natural grip position. A feature which draws influence from thumb operated cockpit instruments, the system also appeals to those who require precise control whilst under pressurised situations - and it looks great too.

Beneath the gently domed sapphire crystal the dial offers up superb legibility, thanks to the elongated baton hour indices and broad steel hands, both given generous applications of Super LumiNova which transform into a vivid green glow in low light. The faded grainy grey dial surface appears aged, and features a subdial at the 3 o’clock position for the small off centre seconds, and against a background of the RAF roundel the 30-minute chronograph register is a the 6. Individual windows at the 9 display the day and date which also have luminous treatment, and immediately beneath the 15 limited edition pieces are numbered.

Inside the 44mm polished stainless steel case sits Graham’s reliable G1747 automatic self winding movement, which beats at a rate of 28,800 vph (4Hz) for up to 48 hours. Visible through the transparent exhibition caseback, which has been laser etched with the Chronofighter 15th Anniversary motif, the rotor and other components have been finished with Côtes de Genève and perlage decoration.

The Chronofighter Vintage UK limited edition is presented on a soft calfskin leather strap, with hand stitching and robust pin buckle.
