CHRISTOPHE CLARET SOPRANO

A spectacular wristwatch of breathtaking complexity and exquisite execution the Soprano by Christophe Claret is a modern day masterpiece, where the values of centuries of Haute Horlogerie tradition are dramatically fused with a captivating contemporary design.

Featuring one of watchmaking’s most revered and challenging Grande Complications, Soprano is a showcase for the technical mastery, innovation and uncompromising attention to detail which are synonymous with one of independent watchmaking’s most exclusive luxury brands.

It is presented in a round case, with polished 18kt red gold bezels sandwiching a titanium midriff that has been treated with brown PVD, in a cool contrast of colour which continues onto the dial. Measuring an impressive 45mm across, with tall straight sides and a height of 15.3mm, it is bold in its appearance and a compelling sight on the wrist.

Under the convex sapphire crystal, the dial is pared back to a brown chapter ring with applied gold indices, opening onto a narrow sapphire ring beneath which the coiled gongs encircle the movement in an extraordinary finely tuned steel nest. Further in the mechanism is fully exposed and a trio of stepped gold bridges rise sharply from the dial floor and reach across, with skeletonised upper levels revealing as much detail as possible.

The magnificent tourbillon provides fascinating and constant motion as its cage rotates every sixty seconds, and above, the open barrel uses the main spring as its own power reserve indicator as it unwinds and expands out from its centre.

Soprano justifies its title when the repeater is activated via the slider on the left. Supremely complex and impossible to resist admiring in action, the classical complication’s four hammers peel out the hours, quarters and minutes in Westminster chimes, as each strikes its own gong, four of which coil around between movement and case side. With single strikes for hours and minutes, all four hammers denote each quarter in a clear, resonating chorus.

Inside the case, the TRD98 hand winding movement comprises no fewer than 450 individual components, each one created and finished to perfection in house, and fully wound it has a power reserve of seventy-two hours, beating at 21’600vph.

An exceptional piece of Haute Horlogerie, in a superb contemporary setting, the Christophe Claret Sonata is created for the most discerning collector of connoisseur timepieces.
