A hopelessly romantic, yet highly complex ladies watch, the Christophe Claret Marguerite Ref MT113.000-030 is defined by its irresistibly feminine aesthetics. However, its enchanting façade conceals within it a secret which has the ability to change the persona of the model in an instant.

The model carries a resplendent, rounded watchcase, in 37mm red gold of 5N purity, which has been set with 315 diamonds totalling 1.82 carats.  This opulent housing frames dial of unparalleled beauty.

At its centre, on a fixed white mother-of-pearl section, a sumptuous daisy blooms.  Its twelve luxurious diamond-studded petals have each been crafted from pink gold and in its centre a ruby pistil glistens.

Two dainty butterflies, in anthracite grey PVD, filled with dark or light orange Super-LumiNova, serve to indicate the hours and minutes, with Arabic numerals at the 3, 6 and 9.  The darker of the two – the female, which indicates the hours, lounges atop a daisy petal.

On closer inspection, one can observe that it is not simply the adorable little creature which rotates while the hours pass, but the petals themselves.

The male, which is represented in a lighter shade, flutters around the dial at the end of the golden stem, while indicating the seconds. Although his graceful motion is seductive, he never quite manages to come close enough to woo his beloved.

On its own, this endearing composition would be enough to captivate its wearer, but the dial of the Marguerite also presents a second, secret display.

To reveal it, press on the pusher at 2 o’clock and, in an instant, the Arabic numbers 3, 6 and 9 disappear, and the phrase “Il m’aime passionnément” (he loves me passionately) is displayed on the outer section of the dial.  Release the pusher and the hour display reappears as if by magic.

On the caseback another treat awaits.  Here, the owner can play a light-hearted game of “He loves me… He loves me not.” Simply place the watch in the horizontal position, and with a few gentle movements the open-worked flower-shaped oscillating weight turns for a few seconds.  When it stops, the ruby closest to the red lacquered heart provides the response to the universally important question with a decisive but playful “yes” or “no”.
