CHRISTOPHE CLARET MARGO VELOURS

Capturing the romance of a summer’s day spent plucking petals from a daisy while pondering over the intricacies of love, the Christophe Claret Margo Velours watch features a whimsical Complication, devised especially for the esteemed Independent Watchmaker’s women clients.  An utterly compelling piece, this special edition model has been enhanced with exclusive aesthetics adding to its uniqueness and desirability.

Defined by technical mastery and irresistible elegance, this charming timepiece features a game of lovers’ roulette enabled entirely by mechanical means.

A pusher at 2 o’clock activates the game setting it in motion.  In an instant one, or more, of the white lacquered daisy petals disappear smoothly beneath the dial, and the answer to the compelling question appears in a window at 4 o’clock.

Just like in life, where the degree of love given and received often varies, the Margo dial also offers its wearer differing fluctuations of heart-felt emotion. In beautifully scripted French letters, the answer is revealed at random - “beaucoup” “passionnément” “à la folie” “un peu” and “pas du tout”. Incorporating one of M. Claret’s specialities, each time the pusher is activated, a tiny hammer, visible at 8 o’clock sounds a delicate, ethereal chime.

An enchanting Automaton game of such complexity is demanding of a luxurious housing and, of course, the Christophe Claret Margo Velours does not disappoint.  The model carries a 42.5mm white gold case enhanced with contrasting slate blue PVD-treated elements. A sprinkling of diamonds, totalling 4.60 carats adds opulence to its curvy profile.

The lustre of the dark blue mother-of-pearl dial is accentuated by shimmering pear-shaped diamonds at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock.  Each of the twelve adorable petals has been hand-crafted from titanium and satin brushed white lacquer.   And, from the centre, blue-tipped steel hands sweep gracefully, secured by a natural pink sapphire pistil.

The sapphire display back unveils a new, alluring aspect. Here, the automatic winding rotor of the Christophe Claret EMT17 calibre takes the form of a flower-shaped carrousel.  Endowed with precious stones in a miscellany of colours, each representing a sentiment of love, another playful game of chance is offered to the wearer, as in anticipation, she waits until the mechanism has ceased its mesmerising motion to see if one of them will line up with the red-lacquered heart on the rim.

Despite its playful nature, the Christophe Claret Margo Velours is undoubtedly a timepiece placed firmly in the upper echelon of Haute Horlogerie.  A masterful demonstration of complex watchmaking prowess and meticulous craftsmanship this seductive timepiece promises to enthral its wearer each time she secures it to her wrist.

Limited to just 20 pieces, this exclusive Christophe Claret Margo Velours comes presented on a luxuriant blue alligator velvet-feel leather strap.
