The Christophe Claret Maestro Mamba Ref DMC16.230.258 captures the essence of creative Independent Watchmaking through unique, functional features and vivid colour tones. A superb infusion of Haute Horlogerie finishing, infused with avant-garde styling, this exclusive model is a showcase piece with a phenomenal wrist presence.
From a stealthy black PVD-treated Grade 5 titanium 42mm watchcase, a generous sapphire dome enables an uninterrupted view of the three-dimensional spectacle which lies beneath.
At once, one is confronted by a striking, technical façade which demands closer inspection. With darkened components the watchmaker’s distinctive Charles X style bridges have added drama. Winding its way seductively between them is the form of a snake, rendered in 4N pink gold, clad in a vibrant green cloak. The head of the noble creature appears beside the balance. Raised up with open-jaws as if ready to attack at a moment’s notice, this exquisite artisan motif sets the tone for this astounding timepiece.
To complement the vibrant aesthetics of the snake, for which this piece is named, the dial has been enhanced with typography and visible screws in bright green and the black chrome-plated hour and minutes hands have received a sapphire green coating of lacquer. Elsewhere, precious Tsavorites add luxurious embellishment.
In keeping with its uncommon aesthetics, Christophe Claret has endowed this model with imaginative, innovative features.
At the 5 o’clock location, the date indication takes the form of a large pyramid-shape, crowned with a Tsavorite. An open-worked, green-tipped aperture serves to mark the current date, via tens on the upper section of the cone, and units on the lower. At the end of each day, a visual treat awaits the wearer as it performs a semi-instantaneous jump between midnight and twenty past midnight.
Just to its left, is a whimsical little mechanically-powered gadget which serves as a “knot in the handkerchief” reminder. Adorned with a diamond and a Tsavorite, to alert the wearer of an upcoming event or task, this ingenious “MEMO” function adds a playful aspect to this impressive watch.
Visible through the case back sapphire, the darkened Manufacture manual-wind DMC16 movement displays a supremely modern architecture. Beating at 21,600vph its twin-series mounted barrels enable a generous 7-day reserve of power.
For the aficionado who appreciates Haute Horlogerie with a contemporary twist, the Christophe Claret Maestro Mamba will be a desirable proposition. Reassuringly exclusive, this 28-piece edition comes presented on a green Mamba snakeskin strap with an additional black python strap option supplied.
