A truly magnificent wristwatch from a true connoisseur’s marque, with its exquisite hand engraved decoration which adorns the dial plate and classically inspired pocket watch aesthetics, the 19Thirty Fleurier by Bovet 1822 is a celebration of an illustrious past reimagined for a contemporary world. Distinguished and individual it is a watch which catches the eye with its distinctive styling and captivating display beneath the sapphire glass.
Epitomising the centuries-old skills of the Master Watchmaker the 19Thirty Fleurier is hand manufactured and finished to the uncompromising standards of Haute Horlogerie, and features a bespoke manual winding movement which is entirely conceived and manufactured in house.
Based in the 14th century Château de Môtiers in the Val de Travers region of Switzerland, where for more than one hundred years Bovet had made its home, the company today maintains a tradition of hand crafted mechanical art for which those early masterpieces were famed. Resurrected in 2001 by visionary entrepreneur Pacsal Raffy, Bovet is one of a small number of independent watch companies which has the facilities to enable a fully in-house process, from concept to presentation, with its own sister movement and dial making ateliers under one roof.
With its ornate, fluted onion shaped crown at the twelve, the 19Thirty Fleurier is essentially a pocket watch designed for the wrist, and its round 42mm polished stainless steel case has an unspoiled symmetry and a poise which is accentuated by the elaborate strap attachments and the articulated bow which both protects and allows access to the crown.
Beneath the gently domed sapphire crystal the time is displayed on a central vertical across two-part black dial with circular brushed finishing. Uppermost and most prominent the hours and minutes have roman numerals and polished steel poire hands, while below the small seconds overlap. To the right, the power reserve is indicated by a fine blued pointer in a half-moon shaped recess with sun-brushed finishing and blue markings.
This particular reference of only thirty numbered examples is defined by the beautiful hand engraved decoration which has been painstakingly and precisely carved into the surface of the dial plate. The detailing of this artisanale workmanship is superb and adds to the sophisticated elegance of an exceptional and wonderful piece of traditional Swiss watchmaking.
On the underside, a sapphire glass reveals the beating heart and outstanding hand finishing of the manual winding 15BM04 calibre. With gleaming anglage and an arc of Geneva striping which extends from plates to bridges the mechanism boasts an impressive power reserve of seven days while running at 21’600 vib/h, and is developed and manufactured under the same roof by sister company and movement specialist Dimier.
An outstanding watch in every regard, the 19Thirty Fleurier by Bovet reflects the company’s rich history in a piece which is elegant, beautiful and individual.
