The Bell & Ross BR 03-90 with Grande Date and Power Reserve is a stunning and highly distinctive watch which captures the spirit of the hugely successful Bell & Ross Instrument series in a slightly more compact 42mm case. Designed with cues lifted directly from the cluster of instruments found on the flight deck, its squared case with round bezel has become a cult favourite among pilots and aviation enthusiasts alike.

Encased in 18Kt rose gold with satin brushed and polished surface finishing and squat screw-in crown, the BR03-90 is a beautifully put together eyecatching piece with meticulous attention to its many little details throughout.

The contrast between gold and black is classic and visually striking, and beneath a flat sapphire crystal its smoked sapphire disc forms the centrepiece of the dial, and offers a view through to the perlage decoration on the movement plate below, and the two date discs which align in a gold rimmed grande date window at the 12.

Its black dial surround is marked out with clean crisp minute markers and features applied gold hour markers which extend out onto the sapphire centre, and with generous application of Super LumiNova provides excellent legibility in light or darkness.

The large gold rimmed subdial which occupies the lower dial contains the power reserve indicator, its snailed decoration and graduated panels offering yet another element to the detailing.

Inside beats a Soprod automatic self winding movement, modified to incorporate a module for the power reserve and date functions. The case is good for 50m water resistance, although with its black alligator leather strap it’s not best suited to prolonged exposure to wet conditions.
