BALL WATCH ENGINEER III ENDURANCE 1917 TMT

An understated sports time-keeper, the Ball Engineer III Endurance 1917 TMT is a limited edition watch with an elegant, yet masculine personality.  While the model is perfectly suitable for daily wear it has been endowed with an abundance of exciting technical innovations which ensure that the piece remains accurate, even under the most extreme conditions.

Ball created this handsome timepiece to pay tribute to the esteemed explorer, Sir Ernest Shackleton and the 100th anniversary of his Trans-Antarctic Expedition.  Taking inspiration from the challenging temperatures faced by Shackleton’s team, the model features a unique function, which has engendered a highly unusual dial indication.

The piece carries a 42mm stainless steel case, with polished and brushed finishes.  Beyond its trim bezel, an immaculate black dial provides a dramatic background for the baton hour markers and faceted hands, each of which has been endowed with the brand’s gas tubes to ensure premium readability in low light conditions.  Located at the one o’clock, a quirky circular date window takes up position, while a vivid tip on the sweep seconds hand complies with the typography of the branding and the 12 o’clock marker.

However, positioned on the lower sector, the dial has been equipped with an arc-shaped mechanical thermometer, adding immediate distinction to this model. Enabled entirely by mechanical means, the thermometer, which is capable of indications from      -35°C to 45°C, uses a proprietary module built into the base movement, and its impressive accuracy is achieved via a bimetallic coil.

The piece is powered by the Chronometer Certified Ball automatic Calibre RR1601-C mechanical movement, which has been sealed against water resistance of up to 100 meters.  The calibre is also guarded against the ruinous effects of magnetic interference to an intensity of 4,800A/m.  And, the inclusion of BALL’s patented Amortiser anti-shock system ensures that the energy created from side shocks is absorbed, thus limiting the possibility of damage.

Together these safety features would to please even the most discerning, adventuresome wearer however, Ball have also supplied the calibre of this piece with an additional defensive measure.  By lubricating the components with a special oil blend, the functional accuracy of the movement is guaranteed in an extraordinary temperature range from –40°C through to 60°C.

An ultra-functional timepiece which boasts accuracy and reliability while remaining stylish on the wrist, the Ball Engineer III Endurance 1917 TMT Ref NT2222C-S1C-BKC comes presented on a stainless steel bracelet and has a limited production of 1000 pieces.
