Created in honour of the esteemed explorer, Sir Ernest Shackleton and the 100th anniversary of his Trans-Antarctic Expedition, the design of the watch is restrained enough to slip easily beneath a tailored cuff and it would certainly not look out of place in the Boardroom.
The piece carries a 40mm stainless steel case, with polished and brushed finishes. Beyond its trim bezel, the black dial provides a pristine background for the baton hour markers and faceted hands, each of which has been endowed with the brand’s gas tubes to ensure premium readability in low light conditions. Located at 3 o’clock, the day/date window adds equipoise to the dial layout, while a vivid tip on the sweep seconds hand complies with the typography of the branding and the 12 o’clock marker.

The piece features a screw-down crown sealing the automatic Chronometer Certified Calibre RR1102-C to water resistance of up to 100 meters. The calibre is also guarded against the ruinous effects of magnetic interference to an intensity of 80,000A/m. And, the inclusion of BALL’s patented Amortiser anti-shock system absorbs the energy created from side shocks.
Together these safety features would assuage even the most adventuresome wearer, however, Ball have also supplied the calibre of this piece an additional defensive measure. By lubricating the components with a special oil blend, the accuracy of the movement is guaranteed to an astounding temperature range from –40°C to 60°C (-40°F to 140°F).
