BALL TRAINMASTER DOCTOR’S CHRONOGRAPH

For more than a century the Ball watch company has established a strong reputation for manufacturing high quality watches for demanding professionals. Featuring robust construction and Swiss made movements, their collections are both durable and superbly reliable mechanical wristwatches with the focus on functionality first and foremost.

For the most part, Ball watches are designed to deal with arduous conditions and so their collections of instrument watches are comprised of stainless steel and titanium pieces, but not all. The Ball Trainmaster series is the company’s flagship range, and it has a historical association with the brand too, as at the end of the 1800s Ball, an American family company, was invited to assist the US railroads in establishing a standardised timing system, reducing the chance of future collisions.

Encased in a gleaming 43mm 18Kt yellow gold case, the Trainmaster Doctor’s Chronograph is a testament to bygone years with its charming detailing, and the rarely seen single pusher chronograph much loved by medical professionals for its ease of use.

Perfectly complementing the polished gold case, the fired white enamel dial has a beautiful glassy sheen, and around it in red, a pulsometer scale provides an accurate pulse rate reading as the large red chronograph pointer passes the 15 second mark. Just inside the black minutes track is punctuated with Ball’s glowing tritium gas filled tubes, which together with the hour and minute hands make night time reading easy.

Two recessed subdials at the 9 and the 12 contain the small seconds and 30-minutes chronograph counter, which can be started, stopped and reset via the single pusher, and a trio of windows at the 3 display the full set of day, date and month.

To the rear, a sapphire glass reveals the ever reliable ETA 7750 automatic Swiss movement which beats within. The spinning of the gold inscribed rotor maintains the 42 hour power reserve.

The Ball Trainmaster Doctor’s Chronograph is presented on a crocodile leather strap with 18kt gold pin buckle.
