A timepiece of exceptional finishing and captivating beauty, the Arnold and Son Ultrathin Tourbillon Skeleton watch is a celebration of Haute Horlogerie craftsmanship. Available in either 18ct red gold or platinum, this exceptional piece is powered by the manual winding Manufacture A&S8320 calibre by La Joux Perret, which has been meticulously skeletonised, with red gold and Côtes de Genève detailing, the watch displays the company’s signature flying tourbillon, and an off-centred dial of white opal. This outstanding new edition is presented in a limited edition of only 28 pieces in each metal.
With a thickness of only 8.40mm and measuring 41.5mm across, the rounded case has a polished finish, and is fitted with a domed sapphire crystal over the dial, and a sapphire caseback. It evokes an elegant presence on the wrist, and with this exceptionally svelte profile, one can place the watch firmly within the ultra-thin niche, a feature that instantly elevates the piece into a technically challenging genre within Haute Horlogerie watchmaking.
Promoting equipoise, the aperture for the flying tourbillon at the six o’clock and the off-centred white opal dial at the 12 o’clock form an alliance that recalls the fortuitous number eight. Instantly mesmerising, and with breathtaking detail devoted to its construction and finishing, the V-shaped tourbillon carriage is incredibly slender at just 3.3mm, and it displays a double arrow counterpoise with a subtle arrow on its escapement serving to indicated the seconds.
Surrounding the opal dial and the flying tourbillon, the skeletonised bridges of the A&S8320 calibre are resplendent. Featuring emanating waves of Côtes de Genève which radiate from the centre, and with a rose gold PVD finish, the bridges form an incredibly slender labyrinth that showcases hand-polished and chamfered finishing. The Haute Horlogerie craftsmanship continues with circular stain-finishing on the wheels, and with blued screws with mirror-polished screw heads. Notably, despite its ultra thin profile, the calibre has a generous power reserve of 100 hours when fully wound, and on the technical side, the escapement is equipped with a variable-inertia balance to ensure optimum calibration stability.
On turning over, the reverse of the calibre can be fully appreciated, and here too the hand finishing is meticulous with a continuation of the Côtes de Genève seen on the dial side.
The Ultrathin Tourbillon Skeleton Red Gold watch by Arnold and Son is presented on a blue alligator leather strap with a titanium and 18ct. red gold folding clasp, while the platinum version comes on black alligator leather with platinum clasp. Ensuring exclusivity to its wearer, each edition will be limited to 28 pieces.
