Crafted from a sliver of Baltic Amber, specially chosen for its rich yellow tones, the dial of the watch is magnificent. The material, which is extraordinarily difficult to work with due to its frangible nature, is formed through the fossilisation of conifer resin which takes place over millennia, and its rarity within the watchmaking industry elevates the prestige of this special edition piece. Furthermore, with every dial having individual nuances of banding, each model in the series promises uniqueness to the wearer. Graced with an uncluttered arrangement, the dial features blued steel hands for the hours and minutes and minimal branding.
The HM Steel Amber is housed within a 39.5mm rounded case of stainless steel with a trim bezel. A polished finish enhances the profile of the casing, while its arching lugs curve to the conform to the wrist. A sapphire caseback displays the meticulously finished A&S1001 calibre, which like all Arnold & Son’s movements, was entirely developed, produced, decorated, assembled and adjusted at their Manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Notable for its slender proportions, the calibre has a thickness of only 2.7mm, ensuring it is placed firmly within the ultra-thin category, and its double barrel arrangement ensures a constant flow of power resulting in improvised accuracy, and an exceptional power reserve of 90 hours when fully hand wound. Exhibiting traditional Haute Horlogerie finishing throughout, the architecture of the calibre displays a stunning combination of swirling Côtes de Genève, perlage, and manual chamfering with gleaming high polished edges and blued screws.
Limited to 38 pieces, the Arnold and Son HM Steel Amber watch is presented on an imperial green leather strap lined with papaya yellow, secured with a stainless steel pin buckle.
