Armin Strom Tribute² Copper Edition

Within the Armin Strom portfolio, the Tribute collection stands apart for its modern aesthetic and its exceptional dial composition. Extending the collection, the Tribute² Copper Edition introduces a magnificent new dial, featuring an expanded openworked section, giving an in-depth dial side view of the mechanism of the barrel.

Promoting wonderful symmetry, the elements of the façade conform to one another to create a beautifully proportioned display. The visual highlight is the exposed, skeletonised barrel, which is enhanced with meticulous hand-bevelling on its spokes and black-polishing on its finger bridge. An extended openworked section over previous models in this collection ensures a more technical view of the click bridge and the winding mechanism. The dial for the hours and minutes is off-set and its grey fumé surface is complemented by rose gold plated hands. Elevating the character of the piece, Armin Strom have employed an exquisite artisanal technique known as ‘grattage’ achieved entirely by hand-scraping, with the texture creating an intricate pattern. Finished with an intense copper toned PVD coating, the surface is alive with subtle refined nuances.

The piece is presented in a round stainless steel case, with the crown positioned at the 2 o’clock. At 38mm diameter, and resting just over 9mm tall on the wrist, its profile recalls the mid to late twentieth century taste for less overtly proportioned wristwatches. Characterised by clean lines, the case has a polished bezel and angles, with a contrasting brushed waist and squared lugs.

On the underside, a sapphire crystal caseback reveals the superb Calibre AMW21 manual winding movement which has been conceived, designed and developed in the Armin Strom Biel/Bienne ateliers, exclusively for the collection. Beating at 3.5hz (25,200 vib/h), the in-house movement boasts an impressive 100 hours of autonomy, which is achieved in part thanks to the innovative motor barrel, which dissipates its energy with optimal efficiency. The balance and escapement assemblage are visible, while the three quarter plate features broad Côtes de Genève stripes and mirror polished anglage around the edges.

Limited to only 10 pieces, the Armin Strom Tribute² Copper Edition watch is presented on a grey alcantara leather strap secured with a stainless steel folding clasp.
