ARMIN STROM EDGE DOUBLE BARREL FIRE

Staying true to the ethos of the company’s legacy, the Armin Strom The Edge Fire offers the wearer the opportunity to become intimately involved with their wristwatch, through an exposé of the calibre components.  However, with unrefined, industrial characteristics, it also displays the creativity of the Atelier Armin Strom by infusing meticulous craftsmanship with modern styling.

Aimed at the aficionado who appreciates a combination of Haute Horlogerie and bold styling, the Edge Fire watch is confident design which boasts in-house mechanical virtuosity.

The watch carries a polished, 46.80mm 18-carat rose gold case framed by a chunky, notched bezel.   At the 6 o’clock location, the protruding tab which is a synonymous feature of Armin Strom watches, offers the potential for a bespoke, engraved motif.

Beneath the gently domed sapphire crystal lies a striking façade. Here, traditional watchmaking skills have been infused with pure, contemporary styling, in order to create a unique panorama.

At once, one is confronted with two spider-shaped crown wheels, cutaway so the wearer can view the workings of the winding system face-on.  Elsewhere, unexpected angles and visible screws are arranged on a backdrop of cross-grinding decoration.

The raw, unfinished appearance of the movement is, in itself a paradox. Requiring no less skill than a more traditional hand-decorated effect, its organic appearance adds unrefined beauty to this impressive timepiece.

In contrast to the golden watch case, an off-centred black ring encircles the dial.  Large Arabic numerals in modern typography mark the hours while a precise minute track takes up position on the outer section. To aid readability, the razor-tipped hour and minutes hands have been liberally lume-coated. A plate at the 3 o’clock location, which features the company branding, enhances the atypical location of the time indications.

Overlapping the dial ring at the 9 o’clock position, a black subdial offers a combined indication for the seconds and power reserve display.

Turn the piece over, and the rear-side view of the Manufacture ARM16 calibre is revealed.  Here, traditional watchmaking components co-exist with a seemingly undressed surface, adding a rugged aspect.  The contrast of this robustness, interspersed with the delicacy of deep-set jewels and a visible escapement ensures that the Armin Strom The Edge Fire is a watch which, from any angle, demonstrates uniqueness and distinction.

The Armin Strom The Edge Fire wristwatch wears on a brown horn-back alligator leather strap and comes supplied with an additional brown rubber strap.  The model is an exclusive limited edition of just 100 pieces.
