Characterised by luxurious characteristics and cutting-edge innovation, the Armin Strom Dual Time Resonance Rose Gold watch is a technically complex timepiece which demonstrates the watchmaking prowess of this small, independent watchmaking company.
Within the watch industry, the term “Resonance” refers to stability – an issue which has troubled watchmakers for generations. Following three years of research and development, Armin Strom have achieved what many others deemed to be impossible. The end-result of their fastidious experimentation has engendered an iconic timepiece which infuses state-of-the-art technology and traditional aesthetics.
The Armin Strom Dual Time Resonance Rose Gold watch has two independent mechanical movements, laid side by side on the same mainplate. In unison, their balance wheels oscillate in perfect resonance with one another, in order to produce greater stability than can be achieved with one, single balance.
Providing a direct, mechanical link between the two, the Armin Strom patented Resonance Clutch Spring ensures that they operate in complete harmony, without the reliance on any external forces, which could impact on their reliability.
Staying true to the ethos of their founding father, master craftsman Armin Strom whose timepieces always allowed the wearer to have an intimate view of the micro-mechanics at work, the façade of this impressive watch enables a stunning, anatomical view of the industrious motion of their ingenious mechanism.
At the 12 o’clock location, one can observe the lively performance of the two balance springs as they dance in unison. Between them, the incredibly fine Resonance Clutch Spring steadies the two with precise, vertical pulses. The panorama of the open-worked upper dial enhances the full visual effect of the two tiny mechanical hearts beating with one compelling rhythm.
Accompanying this stunning animation, two exquisite black guilloché dials enable the wearer to read the time in two different time zones. Here, a traditional rail-track for the minutes, and Roman numerals at each hour, lend a superb contrast to the starkness of the mainplate beneath them.
At the 6 o’clock location each dial has its own dedicated power reserve indicator. While interlocking with the two, a guillochéd dial at the 6 o’clock location, serves as a 24-hour day/night indication.
The side-by-side architecture of this astounding timepiece engendered the need for a voluminous housing, and this Dual Time Resonance carries a generous 59mm x 43.4mm oval watch case, constructed from 18-carat rose gold. Contrasting superbly with the striking black guilloché work, the richness of the noble, precious metal also gives this impressive piece a reassuringly luxurious feel.
Independent time setting of the two dials is possible via dedicated crowns at the 2 o’clock and 10 o’clock locations. And, at 6 o’clock, the distinctive Armin Strom protruding tab proclaims the provenance of the model while offering its wearer the possibility of a bespoke, personalised engraving.
Turn the piece over and a new, fascinating dimension of the watch is revealed. Here, a quartet of barrels dominates the scene, against a background of circular hand-decoration. Each movement is powered by its own pair of barrels, in an arrangement which sends power only to their dedicated oscillator, avoiding any impact on the resonance. Together their open-worked structure tells the inside story of mechanical wizardry, as all four turn in unison when the wearer winds the watch.

Presented on a black alligator leather strap, the Armin Strom Dual Time Resonance Rose Gold model is a demonstration of what can be achieved at the pinnacle of Haute Horlogerie.
