ARMIN STROM DUAL TIME RESONANACE TITANIUM

Characterised by classical styling, and cutting-edge innovation, the Armin Strom Dual Time Resonance Titanium is in every sense, the embodiment of complex horology

The model features two independent mechanical movements, resting side by side on the same mainplate.  Together, their balance wheels oscillate in perfect resonance with one another, in order to produce greater stability than can be achieved with one, single balance.

Between the two, the Armin Strom patented Resonance Clutch Spring provides a direct, mechanical link, ensuring that they operate in unison, without the reliance on any external forces, which could impact on their reliability.

Having invested three years of development into their solution to the issue of stability – a conundrum which has troubled watchmakers for generations, Armin Strom have done what many others deemed to be impossible. And, what’s more, they have achieved it with finesse.

Such an innovation deserves an equally worthy showcase, and true to the ethos of their founding father, master craftsman Armin Strom, the façade of this impressive watch provides a stunning anatomical view of the industrious motion of the mechanism.

At the 12 o’clock location, one can observe the lively performance of the two balance springs as they dance in unison.  Between them, the incredibly fine Resonance Clutch Spring steadies the two, with precise, vertical pulses.   The panorama of the open-worked upper dial enhances the full visual effect of the two tiny mechanical hearts beating with one compelling rhythm.

Accompanying this stunning animation, two exquisite black guilloché dials enable the wearer to read the time in two different time zones.  Here, a traditional rail-track for the minutes, and Roman numerals at each hour, lend a classical aesthetic to the starkness of the mainplate beneath them.

At the 6 o’clock location each dial has its own dedicated power reserve indicator. While interlocking with the two, a guillochéd dial at the 6 o’clock location, serves as a 24-hour day/night indication.

The side-by-side architecture of this astounding timepiece engendered the need for a voluminous housing, and this Dual Time Resonance carries a generous 59mm x 43.4mm oval watch case.  Constructed from Grade 5 Titanium, it promises to wear feather-light on the wrist despite its lavish proportions.

Independent time setting of the two dials is possible via dedicated crowns at the 2 o’clock and 10 o’clock locations. And, at 6 o’clock, the distinctive Armin Strom protruding tab proclaims the provenance of the model while offering its wearer the possibility of a bespoke, personalised engraving.

Turn the piece over and a new, fascinating dimension of the watch is revealed.  Here, against a background of circular hand-decoration, a quartet of barrels dominates the scene,

Enabling a power reserve of 110 hours, each movement is powered by its own pair of barrels, in an arrangement which sends power only to their dedicated oscillator, avoiding any impact on the resonance. Together their open-worked structure tells the inside story of mechanical wizardry, as all four turn in unison when the wearer winds the watch. Elsewhere, a glimpse of the rear-side of each power reserve mechanism is an additional, eye-pleasing feature.

Presented on a black alligator leather strap, the Armin Strom Dual Time Resonance Titanium model is a show-stopping timepiece of unparalleled technical supremacy.
