With its trademarks of distinctive styling and a contemporary approach to classical watchmaking, H. Moser & Cie. have established a reputation for its quite beautiful wristwatches which all feature in house manufacture movements, finished to Haute Horlogerie standards.
The new H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Centre Seconds Cosmic Green Fumé Edition continues that legacy in the form of this stunning, go anywhere sporty model, which features a polished stainless steel case, with 120m water resistance and durable black fabric strap making it a practical and luxurious watch for the active, outdoor lifestyle.
The round 42.8mm case has the clean, flowing lines which are a signature of the brand’s immaculate styling, but for the Pioneer Centre Seconds its details are slightly more pronounced, giving it the sportier appearance which defines the Pioneer collection.
Beneath a gently curved sapphire crystal, the dial features applied faceted and tapering hour indices, with luminous dot accents, and partially skeletonised steel hands, which are also coated with Super-LumiNova. Against a background of Cosmic Green in Moser’s cool Fumé effect, the time is easily read in even low light conditions, and the colour graduates from near black around the outer edge into a light green around its centre, and it’s all set off with a sunburst finish which amplifies the effect and radiates across the dial.
A sapphire crystal exhibition caseback provides a view of the in house Manufacture HMC 200 self winding movement, which features an 18Kt gold skeletonised, engraved rotor. The surfaces of the plates are finished with broad undulating striping and finely polished edging, and beating gracefully beneath its sculpted bridge, the balance wheel with Straumann double hairspring is another of the brand’s signature details, and beating at 21’600 vib/h it delivers at least three days of autonomy when not on the wrist.
The H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Centre Seconds Cosmic Green Fumé Edition has the distinction of being one of very few Moser models created in stainless steel, and presented on a durable water resistant fabric strap is designed to take on the rough and tumble of life in the great outdoors. Overall, this fabulous watch encapsulates what this wonderful independent watch company does so well, in fusing contemporary styling and classical watchmaking tradition with a thoroughly modern twist.
